The Black Eagles Blog Tour

The rise of the Black Eagles was meteoric, from band practice in the garage to global stars almost overnight. And Melissa Webb, the beautiful girlfriend of the front man, appeared to have it all. But when Luke Black disappears without a trace and Melissa wakes up in a hospital bed after a savage attack, her perfect world is shattered and their lives are plunged into a potentially deadly crisis. Where is Luke, and can he be found before it is too late?

The Black Eagles and their loved ones try to recover from the traumatic events that have beset the band, starting to piece together their lives while trying to make sense of everything that happened to them. How can they trust again, after so much betrayal? As they begin a collective healing process, they find that the future has more demons in store for them.
At the centre of it all are Luke and Melissa, only just starting to put their lives back together. As they embark on new adventures, old enemies may not be ready to let them forget.

Character Interview

Q1: How old were you when you started playing guitar?
LB: I was Twelve.  My mum gave me Chloe my acoustic guitar on my twelve birthday. That guitar is like another best friend, if anything ever happened to her it would be tragic.  I would sulk for weeks.  I have poured my heart out with her, wrote many a song with that guitar. It’s like a limb that is a part of me. It would hurt to lose her.

Q2: What was the first song that you wrote? And, Why?
LB: Pink Ribbons was my first song. It was written about a girl called Chloe who was my first real friend. We meet when we were 5; even then I had an eye for the girls. (Luke laughs, but then frowns.)  She died in a house fire on her seventh birthday, her death impacted on me so much. I was 7 years old and I didn’t understand it. How could she be gone? I had all these things I wanted to say and I didn’t know how to. So I didn’t and I locked her away, buried the pain. The guitar came along and suddenly I found an outlet. Turns out, I’m pretty good at it. It was the only way I could move on and accept it. Writing songs is how I cope with bad things in a positive way.  Hence naming my Guitar. That is my way of saying that I have never forgotten her and I never will.

Q3: If you were not in a band or doing anything music related. What job would you be doing?
LB: I would still be working in a petrol station, dying of boredom. I try not to think about it. I’m doing the only thing I want to do and have any skill in and it’s the best thing in the world. I’m the happiest person in the world when I’m on stage.

Q4: What was it like to go from playing to 20 people in a pub to what you’re doing now?
LB: Mind blowing, insane and I am still in shock. Everyone dreams of it but not everyone gets it. I am so thankful for every fan we have, we have some incredible fans. Some have been with us from the very start. Some have become friends. It’s nice and I will never take them for granted.

Q5: What song is your favourite to perform?
LB:  That’s easy ‘Weekend High’ I wrote that when I was twenty after a really bad relationship. It wasn’t really a relationship but at the time I didn’t see it.  It was just convenience and there was no love there we argued more than anything else.  I love the fact the fans go insane to it. My work is done and it’s what I set out to achieve.

Q6: Which song don’t you like?
LB: Hmmm.. I don’t really dislike any but I guess ‘Just another day wishing’ I think it’s quite slow for us and I sound like such a moaning old git. I was quite down when I wrote that. I don’t mind it but none of us really get excited about playing it. We drop it from sets sometimes, if I’m in a bad mood and I don’t want to do it, I won’t. Not a good song for me if I’m in a strop already. We get away with it as it isn’t a fan fave, some seemed to like it but not everyone. My mum loves it.

Q7: Which gig has been your favorite so far?
LB: That is harder to answer because every gig is amazing for all kinds of reasons. I don’t think it would be fair to choose one. That is like saying to one set of fans ‘Oh you were great’ and make other fans feel like you didn’t enjoy their show.  For sentimental reasons our third gig at Ruby’s back home will always be special. I meet my girlfriend there and it was what changed everything for me and us as a band.

Q9: There is story at the moment saying you proposed to Melissa? True or False?
LB: What? News to me. No, not true. She’s amazing though, one day, maybe. Right now I’m concentrating on my career and she is so supportive.

Q8: It’s a Saturday night and you’re not on tour. What would you be doing?
LB: I don’t see my girlfriend very much so we would either be catching up at home. (Luke winks and laughs) or I would be writing new material. I don’t really have spare time. I feel like I always have something to work on, or prepare for. When I’m on tour that is my party time, and when I’m home I calm it down a bit.

Q9: Who is your best friend?
LB: My band are my best mates but the ultimate title goes to Dale. He’s always there for me even when I’m being a dick, we’ve know each other for about 100 years. He’s a fucking ace best friend and he’s not a bad guitarist either.

Q10: What would you like to say to your fans about the gossip that surrounds you?
LB: That most of it is complete and utter Bollocks. If you haven’t heard it from me the chances are it isn’t true.  Just to clarify the latest story. The band is not splitting up. My girlfriend isn’t sleeping with my drummer, doesn’t have a drink problem and isn’t pregnant. and I haven’t proposed. Amazes me how many lies fly around.  I don’t care what they write about me as I’m really not that bothered by it.  I do care when my girlfriend is sobbing because people are calling her all kinds of things in the street or online over lies.

Q11: What annoys you about being in the limelight?
LB:  Just people’s need to lie. Write the truth or don’t bother. If people want to know something just ask me. I’ve no problem with having a chat but don’t make stuff up or I will pull you on it. I’m not scared of standing up for myself. Be warned.

Q12: Do you have any regrets?
LB: Yes. I would rather not say as it’s something that is causing me issues currently and I wish I could turn the clocks back so I never meet this person.  That’s all I’m willing to say.

Q13: What would you say annoys others about you?
LB: I’m a perfectionist. I drive everyone mad at times. We could have completely nailed a song but I will be thinking about making it better. I worry about things more than the others. There have been times where I’m trying to change a set list minutes before a show and that winds people up.

Q14: Would you change anything about the band?
LB: Hell no! We’re in a good place and there’s nobody else I would consider doing this with. They are my best mates and we have a laugh and without them I would be nowhere. Anyway, I don’t think anyone else would put up with me.

Q15: You have 48 hours to live. What would you do?
LB: I would put on the biggest show and say goodbye to my fans before spending whatever time I have left with the people I love. Hopefully write a song that will go down in history so I live on forever. Have a massive party and go out with a smile on face.

Teaser 1

She felt as though they were never going to let her recover in private – the vultures were already circling, and picking for information as to what had happened. Jean had dodged two of them as she’d come into the hospital and that wasn’t even the beginning. There would be more – lots more. She wanted to scream at them to leave her daughter alone, but what would be the point? She was an intelligent woman and she knew that the lifestyle Melissa and Luke had chosen came at a price. But surely there had to be a limit? Apparently, her broken and terrified daughter was even more exciting to them than she was before. It was just another scoop for them to sell their trash, she thought. They didn’t care that two families and their friends were going through a terrible time, which would only get worse if he didn’t return. Millions of fans around the world waited to discover the fate of their idol. But to Melissa he was her boyfriend, her soul mate, her world.

Melissa went deathly white and the sound that came from within her made her parents jump; it was like an animal being tortured. She was hysterical, and had to be restrained as she threw herself on the floor screaming for Luke. Her parents struggled with her, begging her to calm down but she had snapped. Everything she had been subjected to rushed to the surface and boiled over. She was unable to control herself any more.

Her medical team rushed in and quickly assessed the situation. Due to her state of mind, they decided that sedation was the only way to calm her down and prevent her from causing herself harm.

‘Do it, doctor – now!’ Jean yelled as she struggled to hold her broken daughter.

Teaser 2

‘You look beautiful, as always.’ She barely had to try, he thought.

He was in his usual dark blue jeans and black hoody.

‘Do I look fat?’ she asked.

‘Shut up and stop fishing for compliments!’ he joked, but she pulled a sad face.

‘Of course you don’t!’

‘That’s the right answer.’

‘I’ve something for you too, to bring you luck today.’ She opened her travel bag and pulled out a small package.

‘You didn’t have to. It’s your birthday, not mine!’

She waved his protest away; it was a big day for him, and she felt that it would be right to give him a gift too. It was a brown leather cuff which she’d seen in a music shop. She’d thought it would suit him and look good while he played. She placed it on his wrist carefully, winding the strap around several times so there were three layers, then fastened the small silver buckle at the side to secure it.

‘It’s great – thanks, babe,’ he said gratefully as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Even though he tried to hide it, she could tell he was nervous.

‘Play for me – don’t worry about anyone else,’ she whispered. The next few words came out of her mouth without her even thinking, ‘I love you ...’ She immediately realised that this was a big moment because they hadn’t said it to each other before, even though everyone else could see they were head over heels in love. She held her breath, waiting for him to react, hoping he felt the same. It hadn’t been planned, and she’d surprised herself as well as him, but desperately hoped she hadn’t picked the wrong moment or said it too soon and scared him off.

Teaser 3

The shouting had stopped, and Ray was relieved. He stood outside the door, ready to go in if he had to. The others were either in their rooms or in the bar, keeping well out of the way. As Ray heard their angry shouts die down and then turn into passionate moans, he realised that all was well again in Paradise, and he quickly scuttled off before he heard something that might give him nightmares.

Toby was just heading back from the bar and raised an eyebrow at his manager. ‘Ah, the making-up stage. That took longer than I thought. Damn, I owe Tom a tenner now,’ he laughed then banged on Luke’s door.

‘You owe me a tenner, Black, you slag,’ then headed back to the bar, laughing loudly and knowing they had plenty of time to chill out. Those two weren’t going anywhere for a while.

Excerpt

Melissa finally smiled. ‘When you put it like that, I guess not.’ She pressed her hand against her cheek, frowning.
Luke pulled it away, and kissed her scars, although he hardly noticed them. ‘You don’t have to worry about them either. You’re still the most amazing, beautiful girl in the world.’ He kissed her so sweetly, she melted and some of her pain slipped away.
There was one other thing they did need to discuss, and Luke was being stubborn about it. Melissa on the other hand wanted to do it, she needed to know why? ‘I think you should meet with Dean. We should...’ she said. She saw his expression change, from calm to annoyance in a second.
    ‘No.’
Melissa had expected that answer; it was always his answer. She didn’t blame him.  ‘Listen, I know seeing him will be really difficult. But I think we need to know why. I want to know, Luke. I want to know what made him betray us so badly. He’s desperate to explain, giving me the impression there’s more to this.’
Luke sat on the side of the bed and sighed heavily, thinking it through. ‘I don’t think I want to know, or maybe I do. I don’t know. He was supposed to be my friend. I spoke to him through our split, he watched me fall apart, comforted me. Let me bang on about it. I-I pretty much cried on the guy’s shoulder. And all the time he knew the truth, could have changed it. He didn’t and that fucking hurts.’
Melissa wrapped her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder. ‘I know. Babe, I know.’
He grabbed her hand and kissed it. ‘He helped to break us. What if Kelsey had never told the truth?’
    ‘Don’t, Luke. Please don’t.’
‘You wouldn’t be here, would you?’ He didn’t look at her as he spoke. The answer to that question they both knew the answer to. Probably not.

About the Author
Like a lot of people, Ben went to school, then college and eventually grew up and got a responsible job, a house and a family. And then his mid-life crisis kicked in.

Realising that life was in danger of becoming all too serious, Ben started writing. Not in the way that Forest Gump started running, but at least he started.  He wrote on steamed up mirrors in the bathroom to make his children smile.  Eventually he graduated to making up stories to entertain his kids at bed-time.

For some reason, his boys didn’t seem interested in his tales of every-day life, relationships, family, trauma, farce and the occasional bit of debauchery.  They preferred JK someone or other.

Following his short-lived career as a children’s author, Ben now concentrates on writing stories for grown-ups.  He writes for people who have lived, loved, worked, strived and suffered – people like him. People like you.

Ben lives in south west London with his two boys, his dog and his constant stream of girl-friends.  He dreams a lot too.

DSC_0613   Author’s bio: Izabel (Izi) Vasileva was born Apr 1991 in Bulgaria, where she grew up surrounded by loving friends and family, who have always encouraged her to follow her dreams and always supported her decision despite the fact how crazy they were sometimes. At the age of 18 she decided to move to UK to study and follow her dreams, that’s when a lot of people she knew told her ‘You can’t do it.’. Izi as stubborn as she stood her ground and told them ‘Just watch me.’, which is what she says every time someone doubts her abilities. In 2009 she moved to Canterbury, where on her own she faced the challenges of being independent and living away from home. She learned quickly to adapt and made many new friends along the way. Books have been a passion of hers for a while. She likes to get lost between the pages of a good fiction. Her favorites are YA novel and the very first book that captured her attention completely was Twilight. After some unfortunate events with one of her friends, Izi finally decided to put the idea, which has been in her head for couple of months, on paper. That’s how Izi’s first novel The Prison of Oblivion was born. The author loves expressing her feeling through her stories, but fully realizes that she needs to write more and learn more about writing before she becomes one of the authors, who readers truly admire. To all the readers the author says ‘If you like fiction and YA novel, give me a chance.’.

Strings By Kat Green (Late Post)

Book Blurb – The rise of the Black Eagles was meteoric, from band practice in the garage to global stars almost overnight.

 [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuHeDOHoBL8]

Spotlight: Melissa was also a big part of his plans. It surprised him when he thought about it, because with past girlfriends, his focus had never been diverted from his musical goals. More than once, this was the reason that his relationships ended. It wasn’t selfishness on his part, or at least he didn’t think it was. It was just that he’d never been with someone who he had pictured in his long-term plans. But she was in all of them now. He’d always found the thought of spending your life with one person a bit scary – never being close to another person or having that exciting feeling of a new relationship. But she’d changed all that. It may have been only a month, but he knew she was the one he wanted to be with. The fact that his friends seemed to like her too was a bonus; there had been one or two girls in the past who hadn’t fitted in – usually too wrapped up in themselves to bother getting to know his mates. They were the people he spent most of his time with, and he was nothing without them – they were like family. Melissa had just slotted into the role of being his girlfriend so effortlessly, and vice versa. It just seemed natural. His plans for his future and the band’s therefore naturally included her – it was as though she was their fifth member, even though she didn’t sing or play an instrument. He trusted her and valued her opinion, so it meant a lot to him that she approved of what they did. He was still awake, his thoughts flying around in his head. He decided that he needed to hear her voice, to settle him down and put that tiny bit of doubt out of his mind. So he dialled her number. ‘Are you worrying?’ She sounded sleepy when she answered. ‘A little – everyone’s asleep, but I can’t shut off.’ ‘Can you get to me?’ ‘Of course, babe. I’ll be there in half an hour.’ He knew he should be sleeping, but there was only one place he wanted to be right now. He called a taxi, leaving a note for his sleeping band mates to pick him up from her house in the morning. He just hoped they could be trusted to get up on time.

Kat Green was born Nov 1979 into a military family, and moved around alot during her childhood. This shaped her into the person she is today. Kat Green: Interview.
What inspired you to write your first book? I’ve always wanted to write a book. I penned my first when I was 11, no idea what happened to it, but I do remember elements of it are in Strings. The story isn’t the same in the sense of it being about a rock band, or fame but the Amber part was. Losing my mum 4 years ago made me realize life is short and it was about time I did what I really wanted to do before it was too late. Sometimes there isn’t a tomorrow.
How did you come up with the title? The name changed 4 times until I decided on Strings. There are lots of different events in the book that are surrounded by being tied to something, or a form of Strings being involved. Amber said ‘No Strings attached.’ Guitars have Strings, the boys signing a contract which ties them into something. I just thought it was a perfect name.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? It didn’t start of that way. As the story unfolded I began to see a message. Everything has a price. If something is worth the fight, you fight hard for it. And, that even boys in bands can fall in love. There is a stigma attached to being a ‘Rock Star’ that it’s all sex, drugs and groupies. I know a lot of bands and it really is not the case for all. I know lots of people in bands who are in committed relationships, they gig and they go home. Of course, I am not saying it doesn’t happen, we all know it does. My main one is the power of friendship. True friends can conquer anything together. And, so can true love but you have to be willing to take the bad as well as the good. And, that fame isn’t what people think it is, it can be a very lonely place. Famous people are human to and they had bad times and money doesn’t buy you everything. Money was no good to Melissa when Luke went missing, it was useless.
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? I think every writer thinks they could have done it better or changed this or that. I did that for a long time, and eventually you just have to let it be. Once I was finally able to sit back and say ‘Yes. It’s ready’ It was time to let it go. I could change things, but I have no desire to do it.
What's the best thing you enjoy about writing? Creating people and building a world all of my own
Do you have any advice for other writers? Be brave. Write what is in your heart and soul. Be at peace that your book won’t be liked by everyone and not to take it too much to heart. It’s a big world out there and everyone has different taste. Be grateful for those who do like it and support you. Focus on that and don’t let it knock your confidence.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Yes. Thank you. You’re all Awesome for giving my book a chance. It means a lot to me.
Which Character/s did you create first? Melissa and Beth were always in my mind, and they never changed. Well, apart from Melissa whos name change twice before I settled on Melissa. She was Stephanie at one stage. Names always seem to be important to me they have to be just right. Then Luke was created, who was actually Dean at the very start.
How important is music to you? Music is a massive passion of mine. I love finding new bands and going to gigs.
What are you working on at the moment? The sequel to Strings, and planning the third and last one.

Q1: How old were you when you started playing guitar? LB: I was Twelve. My mum gave me Chloe, my acoustic guitar on my twelve birthday. That guitar is like another best friend, if anything ever happened to her it would be tragic. And, people better hide for a few weeks. I have poured my heart out with her. I think she knows more about me than anyone.  Q2: What was the first song that you wrote? And, Why? LB: Pink Ribbons was my first song. Chloe, was my first best friend, we meet when we were 5, even then I had an eye for the girls. ( Luke laughs, but then frowns.) She died in a house fire on her seventh birthday, her death impacted on me so much. I was 7 years old and I didn’t understand it, how could she be gone. I had all these things I wanted to say, and I didn’t know how to. So, I didn’t and I locked her away. The guitar came along and suddenly I found an outlet. Turns out, I’m pretty good at it. It was the only way I could move on and accept it. But, without letting her go completely, it was after writing that song I decided to name my guitar after her.
Q3: If Chloe was still alive, do you think she would be your girlfriend? LB: I often ask myself that. I don’t know if she would have been in my life romantically, but as a friend, Yes. I would do anything to have her back. A part of me thinks she was removed to allow me to meet Melissa, or maybe not. I don’t know, and I guess I never will understand it. Why people do stupid things for fun, and ultimately end a life. She is my little Angel who I believe has always been with me. I’ve never forgotten her. She’s be a riot though, she was funny even at 6, and I know I loved her.
Q4: If you were not in a band or doing anything music related. What job would you be doing? LB: I would still be working in a petrol station. Dying of boredom. I try not to think about it. I’m doing the only thing I want to do and have any skill in and it’s the best thing in the world. I’m the happiest person in the world when I’m on stage.
Q5: What was it like to go from playing to 20 people in a pub to what you’re doing now? LB: Mind blowing, insane and I am still in shock. Everyone dreams of it but not everyone gets it. I am so thankful for every fan we have, we have some incredible fans. Some have been with us from the very start. Some have become friends. It’s nice.
Q6: What song is your favourite to perform? LB: That’s easy ‘Weekend High’ I wrote that when I was twenty after a really bad relationship. It wasn’t really a relationship but at the time I didn’t see it, it was just convenience and there was no love there. Also, the fans go nuts to it.
Q7: Which gig has been your favorite so far? LB: Now, that is harder to answer because every gig is amazing for all kinds of reasons. I don’t think it would be fair to choose one. That is like saying to one set of fans ‘Oh you were great’ and make other fans feel like you are dissing them. But, for sentimental reasons our third gig at Ruby’s back home will always be special. I meet my Liss there and it was what changed everything for me, and us as a band.
Q8: It’s a Saturday night and you’re not on tour. What would you be doing? LB: I don’t see my girlfriend very much, so we would either be catching up at home. (Luke winks and laughs) or I would be writing new material. I don’t really have spare time. I feel like I always have something to work on, or prepare for. When I’m on tour that is like my party time, and when I’m home I try to calm down from it all.
And, Just to clarify the latest story. The band are not splitting up. My girlfriend isn’t sleeping with my drummer, doesn’t have a drink problem and isn’t pregnant. Whoever writes this crap are fucking idiots. I don’t care what they write about me, but I do care when my girlfriend is sobbing because people are calling her all kinds of things in the street or online. Q11: What annoys you about being in the limelight? LB: Before I answer this I’d like to say that for band reasons I have no problem with it. Being in front of people with all eyes on me is part of my job. It’s important to my career. What I don’t understand is people’s need to lie. As, I just stated in my last answer. What is the point of it? What is entertaining about making up stories that my girlfriend is sleeping with one of my band, not cool. My band are very close to Melissa, like her big brothers and that’s the end of it. Plus, do you really think Toby would still be in the band? No, he’d be out on his arse if he betrayed me like that. I wouldn’t still be with Melissa either, do people really think I’m a mug and would allow that? No. I wouldn’t.
I worry about things more then the others.
Q15: Dale dates Melissa’s best friend and you met each other on the same night. Is it difficult , best friends dating best friends? LB: Apart from the fact the girls are pretty much joined at the hip, meaning I never get rid of Dale.. Nah, I’m kidding. To be honest the girls are more rock and roll than we are. Beth is great and she makes my BF happy and it’s nice to know they look after each other when we’re on the road.
